چکیده

Marine natural products are a good source of antioxidants due to the presence wide range bioactive compounds. Accumulating evidence proves potential use seaweed-derived ingredients in skincare products. This study aims evaluate ultraviolet (UV) protective activity ethanol and water extracts Padina australis. As preliminary attempt for this discovery, total phenolic content (TPC) flavonoid (TFC) were measured, followed by vitro antioxidant using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) reducing power shed light on its bioactivity. The UVB was examined HaCaT human keratinocyte cells. findings reveal that P. australis extract serves as promising antioxidants, it exhibits stronger activities compared with DPPH assays. also demonstrated higher level (76 mg GAE/g) contents (50 QE/g). Meanwhile, both (400 µg/mL) protected cells from UVB-induced cell damage via promoting viability. Following that, LCMS analysis reveals consists sugar alcohol, polysaccharide, carotenoid, terpenoid fatty acid, whereas contains compounds phenol, terpenoid, alcohol acid amide. In summary, biometabolites derived have diverse functional properties, they could be applied developments cosmeceutical pharmaceutical

Partial characterization and anticoagulant activity of a heterofucan from the brown seaweed Padina gymnospora.

The brown algae Padina gymnospora contain different fucans. Powdered algae were submitted to proteolysis with the proteolytic enzyme maxataze. The first extract of the algae was constituted of polysaccharides contaminated with lipids, phenols, etc. Fractionation of the fucans with increasing concentrations of acetone produced fractions with different proportions of fucose, xylose, uronic acid, ...

Antimicrobial Activities of Bacteria Associated with the Brown Alga Padina pavonica

Macroalgae belonging to the genus Padina are known to produce antibacterial compounds that may inhibit growth of human- and animal pathogens. Hitherto, it was unclear whether this antibacterial activity is produced by the macroalga itself or by secondary metabolite producing epiphytic bacteria. Here we report antibacterial activities of epiphytic bacteria isolated from Padina pavonica (Peacocks...
